Meditation or Moving Forward – Which Is Best

As a lifestyle entrepreneur or home-based business owner, you will face a lot of hurdles. The bootstrapping hurdle. The time management hurdle. Even the economic-model hurdle. Yet one hurdle that often goes unnoticed is the tendency to spend more time thinking about what to do rather than getting busy and moving forward.

Why This Happens

You name it…

  • Perfectionism.
  • Fear.
  • Busyness.
  • Not knowing where to start.

Whatever the cause, the results are always the same:

  • Lack of motion.
  • Stuck-ness.
  • Living it backwards instead of living it forward.

Meditation IS Important

First of all, let me clearly state that meditation is essential. It's unlikely you'll experiencing success without thinking deeply about what matters most for you and your business. Personally, I spend a ton of time thinking about how to intentionally live out my purpose, how to achieve the goals I've set, and how to best serve people.

Yet I also struggle with the same things that probably keep you from moving forward. Remember our list…

  • Perfectionism.
  • Fear.
  • Busyness.
  • Not knowing where to start.

Moving Forward is MORE Important

As I write this, I am looking in the mirror because the issues listed above are my issues as much as they are your issues or the issues of my coaching clients. The truth for all of us is this: Meditating on what to do is important, but there comes a time when we must stop meditating and start moving forward.

Why? Because so much more is accomplished by moving forward than meditating!

What this means for you and me is there comes a time, and it should be sooner rather than later, when we have to say: “Good enough is good enough. It's time to start moving!”

“Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.”          — Robert H. Schuller
So, in the spirit of Ecclesiastes….

  • There is a time to think…
  • There is a time to plan…
  • There is a time to strategize…
  • There is a time to prepare…
  • There is a time to set goals…

BUT there is also a time to get off your rear and move it forward!

Why not make that time today? Why not start moving forward on something you've been thinking about for a while? I guarantee you'll be energized and feel a new sense of meaning that no amount of mediation will bring about!

Question: What is one area in your life or business where you will stop meditating and start moving forward today?
