As a lifestyle entrepreneur, when your to-do list is jammed packed and your stack of stuff is piled to the ceiling, the first items that usually get cut are from your personal life. Yet this approach is the exact opposite of what you should do…both for your business and personal life.
According to BusinessDictionary.com, the definition of a lifestyle entrepreneur is:
An individual that creates a business with the purpose of altering their personal lifestyle and not for the sole purpose of making profits. A lifestyle entrepreneur focuses more on the life rewards provided to people that enjoy and have a passion for what they are doing. There is a possibility that the business will do particularly well since the individual has a passion for what he/she is doing.
Lifestyle Business Defined
So let me ask you a question: why did you start a lifestyle business?
If you’re like me, it wasn’t exclusively for lifestyle or money. It was for both! You wanted to live it forward and earn it forward.
Yet when things get busy in your lifestyle business, are you tempted to drop the lifestyle in order to focus exclusively on the business? Ironically, if you take this approach, your performance in both your business and personal life will end up suffering, along with your energy, motivation, and happiness.
Always remember, you are pursuing a lifestyle business. This means you should first get clear about the live the life you feel called to live (i.e. live it forward) and then figure out how to make the work you love fit into that life (i.e. earn it forward). It’s not either/or…it’s both! (If you need help figuring out how to do this, email me. This is the kind of coaching I do.)
